Quantum is announcing the worldwide availability of SuperLoader 3 with LTO-5 tape drives. Quantum’s SuperLoader 3 expands from eight to 16 cartridge slots and with LTO-5 provides performance of up to 280MB/sec (compressed 2:1) and capacity of up to 48TB (compressed 2:1). Quantum’s SuperLoader3 with LTO-5 is available in a high-speed 6Gb/s SAS interface to allow for easy installation and integration into customers datacenters. The features of the LTO-5 tape drive include native 256-AES encryption, WORM
capability, and a new partitioning functionality that enables tape aware file
searches. This new partitioning feature addresses the growing needs of marketplace
segments such as rich media.
Quantum’s LTO-5 tape drives also protects customers’ investments by providing backward read and write compatibility with LTO-4 media and backward read compatibility

Announcing Quantum’s New LTO-5 Tape Products

Quantum is proud to announce the availability of the industry’s first tape products based on the generation 5 specifications for the Linear Tape-Open (LTO) program. The new LTO-5 tape drives nearly double capacity and increase transfer rates by up to 15 percent over LTO-4 technology.
